Screen shots are no substitute for a live demonstration and we encourage EJS users to load, inspect, and run the Mass and Spring model that is described in Chapter 1.

• Mass and Spring model XML source code in a zip archive.  Unzip this model in the EJS workspace.
• Ready to run jar file.  Download this file and double click on it to run the simulation on your computer if Java is installed.
• Chapter 1 text in PDF format.  Read the tutorial in this chapter's appendix if you are new to EJS.

An Introduction to Computer Simulation Methods examples are distributed as EJS readable XML models and as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java programs.  Double clicking the ejs_csm_MassAndSpring.jar file will run the example if Java is installed.  You can examine and modify these examples if you have EJS installed by right-clicking within the running program and selecting "Open Ejs Model" from the pop-up menu.
